Photographing Architectural Details in Manhattan

Sharing some recent work I’ve shot in New York City featuring some shadows and architectural details and silhouettes I found interesting in Manhattan’s Financial District and Midtown areas. The way light is obstructed and shines through in these skyscraper dense areas has always attracted me visually.

Below is some visual exploration of these moments and places.

The Walden 7 Building

When visiting the iconic residential building designed by Ricardo Bofill on the outskirts of Barcelona, it’s easy to get transported by its bold architectural experimentation. It felt like I was on an expansive SciFi movie set.

It was completed in 1975, and the structure stands out with its labyrinth-like design and interlocking geometric forms. The building’s dramatic cascading courtyards, and complex interior spaces make it perfect for architectural photography. My favorite aspect was also the color choices which adds so much to the design.

Shot on Sony a6700 and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
