Evening on the ferry

Evening light captured on New York City’s iconic Staten Island Ferry and Whitehall terminal.

What attracts me the most about composing under these lighting conditions in busy locations like this is that most details are stripped away and we are only left with silhouettes and highlights of the subjects to work with, forcing us to focus more on strong framing and eliminating any distracting details we might have included in our compositions under other lighting conditions.

Here I mostly chose to shoot with a 100mm telephoto lens to accentuate the compression of space around the subjects the and environment.

New York City Ghost Ads

My collection of ghost ads captured around New York City. I’ve always been fascinated with these nostalgic urban time capsules, remnants of old hand-painted advertisements that still linger on the walls of New York City buildings. Once vibrant and bold, these signs—often promoting long-gone products, shops, or services—have weathered decades of sun, rain, and city grit, leaving behind a hauntingly beautiful snapshot of the past.

Captured on Sony a6700 and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
