The elevated subway system in New York City remains a constant source of visual inspiration for me. It’s where street photography gets a little easier as people have no other choice but to stand still for a couple minutes while waiting, which allows a little more time to compose a shot but still has all the unexpected visual surprises of shooting on the streets.
Below is a collection of some my favorite frames captured on these subway platforms where I feel the element of natural light compliments the subjects that fill those spaces. I focused a lot on shadow play and how the light interacts with the environment, metallic surfaces and iron beams.
